Job details:  General Occupational Therapist required to cover vacancy in Community Rehab Team. Senior clinicians required to have community rehabilitation experience or transferrable skills. Knowledge about falls would be helpful but not essential (necessary training can be provided). This is a large community team (60 staff) so there is plenty of support for the locums. The locums will be to be able to travel in the community as they will be assessing and treating people at home. The longest travel time is around 20 minutes. The service treats adults 18+ and see all condition except stroke. The clinicians pick up 4 NP a week which are allocated to them. The team book up their own follow up appointments. To manage and lead the day-to-day organisation of the Occupational Therapy team within their specialist area (Home-based Rehabilitation, Reablement, Community Urgent Care Response, Virtual Ward, Discharge to Assess, Long Term conditions, Falls Service, Motor Disorders Service, Long Covid Service) following Trust policies and procedures. Manage and be responsible for a highly complex assigned clinical caseload using an interdisciplinary, patient focused, rehabilitative and compensatory approaches for a broad range of conditions within their specialist area. Working within the interdisciplinary team you will prevent unnecessary admissions for patients, support earlier discharge home from bed-based facilities and share the overall therapeutic aim of enabling patients to work towards their potential level of physical, mental and social independence and support carers in their role. To provide clinical leadership and specialist advice, through the supervision, coaching and education, for less experienced occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants, students, support workers and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Working hours: 08.00 – 16.00. The service can accommodate 8-4, 8.30 -16.30 or 9-5.
