Job Title:  Patient handling lead – Band 7

Job details:  AHP/RMN/RGN required for Patient Handling Lead. To cover vacancy for 12 weeks. JD available on request:  The Trust requires an interim Moving and Patient Handling adviser for a 5-month duration. There may be the opportunity to extend this. The primary purpose of the role is to deliver patient handling training at designated training locations and also at clinical settings across the Trust. A high regard for Safety will be at the core of all training and advice and guidance provided.
The person will have the ability to assess the equipment and ensure that the most appropriate equipment is used for patient handling. The person will need to be dedicated and self-motivated as they will act as a source of expert knowledge and advice in all aspects of the safe moving and handling of both patients and objects. The person will work autonomously to plan, develop and deliver effective moving and handling training to all staff groups, across all sites who work within Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust in a highly efficient manner.
Excellent communications skills will be required be able to communicate to a high standard, to all staff disciplines across the Trust. The person will support employees and patients across the Trust; which will include, attending meetings, following up on any incidents, queries and working alongside employees on the wards and departments to provide support to patients and employees within the Trust.
The person needs to be able to promote client independence, minimal lifting, use of equipment and ergonomic changes to minimise risks to the multidisciplinary team. The post will involve managing own workload, planning training sessions and training modules.
The person will be expected to work closely with a variety of service providers and promote the prevention of work-related ill health caused through poor moving and handling practice.
The person will need to maintain and improve knowledge and understanding of moving and handling across clinical and non-clinical settings. Working hours: 37.5 hours per week.
