Job details:   Occupational Therapist required to join the Therapy Team. The successful individual would be expected work within an experienced Team involving Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants and be competent to provide Occupational therapy management for patients across the acute setting. • Provide a specialised and up to date Occupational Therapy service in Acute Occupational Therapy with support to develop into a specialist area if they have a preference. • Provide clinical support, guidance and supervision for band 5 staff, students and Rehabilitation Assistants working within the Team. • Provide assistance to the Team Leads in the planning, co-ordinating, delivery and evaluation of the Acute Occupational Therapy service. • Deputise, when necessary, on behalf of the Team lead on both clinical issues and managerial duties within the Team. • Play an active role in the development of Rotational Band 6 and Band 5 Occupational Therapists, students, and Rehabilitation Assistants. • Have a broad understanding of Occupational Therapy specialities and of wider departmental/ professional issues. • To use specialist clinical reasoning to predict achievable outcomes of treatment and to recommend the best course of intervention, developing comprehensive treatment plans, in conjunction with other professions and agencies. • To be responsible on a daily basis for the allocation of clinical work to the Rehabilitation Assistants. • To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload and take action to effectively manage identified risks. • To play a key role in planning and implementing timely discharge in conjunction with other professionals and agencies. • To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing, social services and therapy colleagues to ensure delivery of a coordinated multidisciplinary service. • To be responsible for organising, prioritising and planning your own caseload, including supporting staff under your supervision • To manage clinical time effectively by caseload prioritisation. Meeting patients’ needs and balancing this with other patient related activities and professional responsibilities, both planned and unplanned. Working hours: shifts, 09.00 – 17.00.
