Job details: Stroke Neurology. To cover vacancy. Working under supervision of qualified therapists to assist in carrying out rehabilitation programmes and interventions. Will include joint sessions with therapists and patients, other rehab assistants and carrying out sessions independently as well as running exercise groups jointly with another rehab assistants. Therapy sessions will include exercise programmes and activities to improve movement, cognition, speech and swallowing. Work will predominantly be working to support the OT within the team. A good general education/NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy. Previous experience of working within a care setting or as a Rehab therapy Assistant. To be skilled in communication, establishing and maintaining good relationship with patients, carers, members of the MDT. To undertake specific nursing and therapy tasks following completion of theoretical training acquisition of competency. To maintain confidentiality in all dealings with patients and their records. To offer support and to teach patients, relatives and other carer’s appropriate skills, imparting knowledge to promote positive health. To have knowledge of and be able to effectively use available resources. To participate in the support of student nurses and new staff in the locality. To undertake training, this will lead to new skills being developed, in order to develop Services, Reflect on practice regularly and plan personal development in order to achieve growth development. The UK Border agency’s definition of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) is children who are applying for asylum in their own right; separated from both parents; and are not being cared for by an adult, either in law or by custom. The statutory responsibility of the Trust is then to assess and support which for the majority will be as children in care. To enhance our capacity we are now seeking qualified social workers, registered with Social Work England who have the potential but ideally substantial experience of working and supporting unaccompanied children as children in care.
