· Provide supervision and management oversight for the practice and development of Trainee Social Workers on placement and Newly Qualified Social Workers in their first Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) within the team
· Take a lead in promoting, supporting and addressing quality control, assurance and improvement activities within the team and across the service in accordance with the Accelerated Improvement Plan and other associated plans
· Take a lead in promoting, supporting and addressing performance activities within the team and across the service in accordance with the Accelerated Improvement Plan and other associated plans

To work closely with children, young people and their families, other staff within the service function and partner agencies to provide support and protection for children and young people in need and at risk.

· To promote a range of services which carry out statutory duties as required by legislation and guidance.

· To assess the needs of children, young people and families to plan and implement suitable multi-agency interventions and service provisions to meet need and review outcomes

Assist the Team Manager in providing high quality services to people, families, and carers in accordance with relevant legislation and policy. To operate as the senior professional within the team and deputise for the Team Manager in their absence as appropriate. To undertake a range of statutory duties in accordance with legislation with adults
and their carers; and provide specialist evidence-based interventions.

• To provide professional consultation, direction and support to team members on
  existing cases daily.
   
• Carry a caseload of individual people and families where the problems presented
  are consistently challenging and complex and require advanced level of skills and
  knowledge.
   
• To undertake joint working on cases with team members where these are more
  complex and/or assisting with the development of areas of practitioner
  competence.
   
• To provide practice learning opportunities to social work or occupational therapy
  students (and, where appropriate, AMHP trainees) by directly
  supervising/assessing the student

Social Workers work alongside adult social care practitioners, managers and other professionals within our countywide Locality offices, hospital settings and a specialist learning disabilities team. Social Workers have a key role in upholding the rights of people with care and support needs. Social Workers work in line with legislative frameworks to deliver strengths based, person centred practice using the three conversations model. This is often in challenging and complex situations and take a lead role in undertaking enquires to safeguard adults with care and support, balancing their rights, wishes and feelings in line with statutory duties

Child Protection Chair role

To contribute to and apply the Council’s strategy to support vulnerable children and families. • To ensure service is delivered in line with Oxfordshire’s principles and values of working with partners, children and families To contribute to the assessment of more complex placement needs of children and young people, and
family find for them according to their needs.
• Advise and assist the Child’s Social Worker, in preparation of children for placement either individually, or
in groups (specifically for more complex and evasive families)
• To act as Supervising Social Worker to approved carers and provide supervision, support and training and
to maintain local and statutory records. In addition to undertaking complex assessments and family
finding.
• To produce reports, attend planning meetings, panel, court, reviews, team meetings, Psychology Service
meetings and inter-agency meetings as necessary or appropriate.
• To mentor and support less experienced social workers.
• To contribute to service and policy development and lead on identified prioritise

We require an experienced child protection social worker for our Child Protection Service that completes, C&F assessments, Section 7&37, CIN and CP plans along with PLO.
Average case load in CP 18 children

• Recently audited by peers and received high praise in relation to PLO and actions that the LA take to safeguard
• Ofsted focused visit is completed following inspection last year and we are viewed as improving

2-3 years minimum Child Protection experience required
1. Promote the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people and their families in Knowsley.
2. To carry out timely assessments on children, young people and families in accordance with the Framework for Assessment and working together guidance.
3. Ensure assessments and planning for children and young people actively promote the participation and engagement of all relevant agencies, the child/young person and their family.
4. Prepare/formulate care plans for children and young people which take account of their views wishes in the implementation of those care plans.
5. To maintain case records to a high standard and produce reports in accordance with the Service guidance/policy and procedure which reflect national guidelines using the relevant information technology.
6. To ensure that the diverse needs of children, young people and their families are identified, met and regularly reviewed and plans updated to reflect any subsequent changes.
7. To participate in developmental activities as may be required, and to promote improvement of service or the use of resources.
8. Ensure the statutory duties of the Council are fulfilled and met in accordance with legal requirements and Service responsibilities in relation to statutory reviews or instruments in accordance with the responsibilities of the post taking into consideration the council’s duty to promote and safeguard a child’s welfare.
