3. To work across Health, Education and Social Services settings combining the traditional roles of
both Health and Social Services Occupational Therapists as part of an integrated occupational
therapy service for children, young people and their families in line with the Section 31
Partnership Agreement between Health Services and Council.
4. To provide supervision and contribute to the development of junior occupational therapists,
occupational therapy assistants / technical instructors and students, through the use of
supervision, appraisal and development.
5. To be a source of clinical expertise in Early Years (0-5 years old) and advice on occupational
therapy client care for occupational therapy colleagues, other health professionals and
colleagues working in external agencies.
6. To work frequently as a lone practitioner across a variety of locations within the community,
including client’s homes and schools, ensuring that intervention is responsive and sensitive to the
social, cultural, linguistic and religious needs of a diverse population.
7. To work as an autonomous practitioner complying with the standards set by the Health & Care
Professions Council, College of Occupational Therapy, Health Services and the department, thereby being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work.
8. To contribute to the overall maintenance and development of the Early years Occupational Therapy service.

Facilitate service user choice and empowerment through promoting independence, the timely provision of information, advice and support using evidence-based interventions to ensure service users maintain independence for as long as possible.
3. Assessment and provision of equipment to improve independence with activities of daily living and to reduce risk of injury. This includes manual handling assessments to reduce risk of injury to service users and carers and, where feasible, reduce packages of care for single handed care.
4. To independently manage a caseload, utilising effective prioritisation, delegation and time management skills to enable effective throughput of service users.
5. To identify service users appropriate for Continuing Health Care to manage complex health needs
6. To identify Safeguarding concerns, complete thorough risk assessment and refer where appropriate to services to manage risk of harm to service users. This includes situations where people may be neglected or abused in accordance with the Inter-Agency Policy and Procedures for Safeguarding Adults
7. To assess capacity and ability to make informed decisions relating to assessment process as per Care and Mental Capacity Act.

Ensure the highest level of data quality for all information recorded, ensuring that the information is consistently timely, accurate and complete to ensure the service meets the Professions and statutory recording requirements, including case recording on Mosaic.
11. To ensure confidentiality on all matters relating to service users and information obtained during employment, and not to release such information to anyone else other than those acting in an authorised official capacity in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Guidance.
12. To develop and maintain effective working relationships across services within Adult Social Care, as well as other specialist agencies including Acute Hospital NHS trusts, Mental Health service, D/Ns, GPs, voluntary organisations and independent care service providers.
13. To promote the service to other organisations and appropriate personnel and provide guidance and information concerning Occupational Therapy service provision to other agencies, e.g. Housing Associations, Carer Agencies.
