Based at the specialist Remeo Unit, East Surrey Hospital, part of Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, this role offers the opportunity to work within a complex rehabilitation and acute care environment.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to patients with complex medical and respiratory needs. A key aspect of the role will involve managing ward-based respiratory patients and supporting rehabilitation programmes designed to maximise recovery, function, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments of patients within an acute and rehabilitation setting.
- Provide respiratory physiotherapy assessment and treatment, including ward-based chest management.
- Develop and implement evidence-based rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual patient needs.
- Support patients with complex medical and respiratory conditions to maximise recovery and functional independence.
- Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support rehabilitation goals and discharge planning.
- Provide advice and education to patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
- Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality physiotherapy service within the specialist unit.
- Ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care at all times.
About You
You will be an experienced Physiotherapist with a strong background in acute hospital physiotherapy and confidence managing patients requiring respiratory assessment and intervention.
You will be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary environment, managing complex caseloads, and delivering high-quality rehabilitation and respiratory care. Experience in ward-based chest physiotherapy is essential for this role.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Previous acute hospital physiotherapy experience.
- Experience assessing and treating ward-based respiratory patients.
- Competence in chest physiotherapy and respiratory management.
- Strong rehabilitation and clinical reasoning skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Available to commence the assignment in early July.
