Are you an experienced Band 7 Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist looking for your next NHS locum opportunity? Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and motivated PsyThera MSK Physiotherapist to join its service at Victoria Central Health Centre.

This role offers an opportunity to apply your advanced clinical expertise in the assessment and management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions. You will use your specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to develop appropriate treatment plans, support rehabilitation and help patients improve their mobility, manage pain and achieve meaningful functional outcomes.

As a senior practitioner, you will be expected to work confidently and autonomously, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care while contributing to an effective and responsive physiotherapy service.

The service operates until 20:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Some flexibility in working patterns may be considered, including longer days and a shorter working week, subject to clinical room availability and service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake advanced musculoskeletal assessments to identify complex clinical presentations, functional limitations and rehabilitation needs.

• Apply specialist clinical reasoning to formulate appropriate diagnoses, treatment plans and rehabilitation strategies within the scope of physiotherapy practice.

• Deliver evidence-based interventions to manage pain, improve mobility, restore function and support patients’ recovery.

• Develop individualised treatment programmes that reflect patients’ needs, preferences and rehabilitation goals.

• Provide clear advice, education and self-management strategies to help patients manage their conditions and maintain progress.

• Monitor patient outcomes and adapt interventions in response to clinical progress and changing needs.

• Manage a clinical caseload effectively, prioritising appointments and ensuring the delivery of safe, timely and high-quality care.

• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with professional standards, clinical governance requirements and NHS policies.

• Communicate effectively with patients and relevant healthcare professionals to support coordinated care.

• Contribute to the effective operation of the MSK service through professional collaboration and a flexible approach to service delivery.

About You

You will be an experienced and confident MSK Physiotherapist with advanced clinical assessment skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload independently. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and a thorough understanding of evidence-based approaches to musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

As a Band 7 practitioner, you will bring a high level of professionalism, sound decision-making and the ability to manage complex clinical presentations. You will be committed to delivering patient-centred care, improving functional outcomes and supporting individuals to take an active role in their recovery.

Excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills are essential, alongside the ability to adapt to service requirements and work collaboratively with colleagues.

Requirements

• A recognised Physiotherapy qualification.

• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

• Substantial experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, appropriate to a Band 7 role.

• Advanced clinical assessment and reasoning skills.

• Ability to manage complex MSK presentations and develop appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans.

• Strong knowledge of evidence-based MSK interventions, pain management and functional rehabilitation.

• Ability to work autonomously and manage a clinical caseload effectively.

• Excellent communication, patient education and clinical documentation skills.

• Commitment to professional development, clinical governance and high standards of patient care.

• Flexibility to work full-time, with alternative working patterns considered subject to service needs and room availability.
