Job Details: Stroke Occupational Therapist required to cover winter pressures.
Skills/experience: Hold Occupational Therapy degree (MSc or BSc) and full HCPC registration. Minimum 12 months of NHS experience in an acute stroke/ neuro setting. Evidence of relevant stroke/ neuro specific training.
This role will involve working closely with a highly skilled MDT, completing both single and joint sessions with a wide range of stroke patients in an acute inpatient setting.
Clinical Skills: Conduct comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments with acute stroke patients, formulate and deliver individual treatment plans, skilled patient handling, identify appropriate discharge options and co-ordinate safe discharges, recommending and prescribing adaptive equipment and aids.
Knowledge and Understanding: Understanding of strokes as a condition, specifically acute stroke. To be familiar with Occupational Therapy models of practice, knowledge of National Stroke recommendations and guidelines.
Communication Skills: Clear compassionate communication with patients, effective communication, and collaboration with members of the MDT, accurate and concise documentation in medical notes and onward referrals.
Time Management: Ability to manage a dynamic and often high-volume caseload, prioritising patients based on clinical needs.
Ethical and Professional Practice; upholding patient autonomy, respecting diversity and maintain confidentiality. Ability to assess and interpret standardised cognitive assessments.
Ability to analyse functional assessments.
Must be computer literate.
Able to assess and prescribe a range of equipment aids
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 08.00 -16.00. 30 mins unpaid break.
