Job Title:  Occupational Therapist – Band 6
Area: East London NHS
Salary:  £negotiable

Job details: Therapies. Adult Acute experience within an NHS Hospital, stroke/neuro, cardiac, cognitive assessment and treatment, rehab, complex discharge planning. JD available on request: Client group:

  • Cardiology conditions including those requiring interventional procedures or admission via the Barts Heart Attack Centre (inc. hypoxic brain injury following Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest)
  • Cardiac and thoracic surgery (inc. patients deconditioned requiring rehabilitation following ITU admission)
  • Stroke following cardiac surgery
  • Intensive care unit (inc. ITU acquired weakness, multi-organ failure, respiratory failure, cardiothoracic surgery patients, CAR-T therapy for haem-onc patients requiring ITU admission)
  • Respiratory medicine including MND and cystic fibrosis
  • The caseload is very mixed especially as you will treat patients post-operatively (inc. strokes and spinal cord injuries), patients presenting post out of hospital / in-hospital cardiac arrest, cardio-oncology patients.
  • You will have the opportunity to work within all levels of care including 56 beds of critical care and a 40 bedded CCU as well as the post-operative cardiothoracic and cardiology wards. You will have the opportunity to work across intensive care, high dependency, cardiac wards, cardiology wards, thoracic wards and respiratory wards.
  • As a band 6 within the team you will have direct supervision of a band 7 to aid your development and will have the responsibility of supervising a band 4 occupational therapy apprentice or band 5 occupational therapist and visiting students.
  • There is also the opportunity to partake in service development, audit and potential research. Patients are admitted from all over the country and can require complex management.

Working hours: Full time. 37.5 hours per week (30 mins for lunch, not included)
