Job details: Paediatric Physiotherapist required for 8 weeks. Acute/community. With experience of working with children with physical disabilities aged 5-19 in both mainstream and special schools setting, children with MSK problems, and respiratory management on a district general hospital.
The main specific areas of responsibility for this post are:
The PT will hold a specialist caseload of children with physical disabilities, profound and multiple learning difficulties within a special school setting and mainstream setting.
The PT will also hold a specialist caseload of children aged 0-16 with MSK problems and will need to be able to offer cover the paediatric ward on an ad hoc basis, this includes respiratory and orthopaedic management of Children and young people
The PT will need to have good knowledge of working with children and young people including working in a school environment, the prescription of specialist equipment in the educational setting including manual handling
It will involve the review of CYP in both clinic and school in to provide both therapy programmes and to up skill parents and staff.
The role allows for a high level of MDT working, with OT/SLT, within the specialist settings.
He/she will be expected to manage their own caseload, travelling between schools working alongside teaching staff to ensure highly specialist therapy programmes are in place for the children under their care. He/she will be expected to work collaboratively with children/young people (CYP), parents/carers and with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services, in service planning, policy and delivery of services to this specific client group.
The role will include assessment of children including reports writing and the provision of therapy programmes
We are based in the London borough of Harrow and are an MDT team of over 60 therapist consisting of SLTs/ PTs and OTs. This is role is based on a set caseload. It is essential that the Physiotherapist has experience of working in both the NHS and the education system. This is a face-to-face role. Working hours: 37.5 hours per week. 08.30 – 16.30.
