Job details:  Lead Occupational Therapist required – Trusted Assessor Delivery to develop and implement a Trusted Assessor Framework that will be used across Health and Social Care in South West London (Sutton, Kingston, Croydon, Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond). The trusted assessor role is invaluable, and the service recognises the need to develop, support and retain trusted assessors in the workforce. The framework will develop the knowledge, competencies and skills of trusted assessors and support them in carrying out their role such as prescription of equipment and adaptations to maximise independence for vulnerable adults and promote efficiencies. In the role, the post holder will also develop and implement standard operating procedures for equipment prescribed by Trusted Assessors. They will forge links with training providers to ensure that the trusted assessor training provided meets the needs of South West London partners. The post holder will evaluate the effectiveness of the Trusted Assessor Framework using outcome measures and report on key performance indicators. They will also be required to gain feedback from residents to shape their work and take strengths and outcome-based approaches. The post holder will provide direct support to trusted assessors through forums and joint work to support their development. They will line manage and supervise a Senior Occupational Therapist who will assist with this project and also provide direct support to trusted assessors. They will report to the Principal / Lead Occupational Therapist and receive monthly supervision and guidance, as well as informal support.
Hybrid working. The post holder will be required to be based in the office regularly and be able to travel across South West London. There will also be ample opportunities to work remotely. JD available on request:

  • This post will be responsible for leading on the development and implementation of Trusted Assessor Framework for provision of equipment and minor adaptations. 
  • The role involves workforce development of trusted assessors across SWL Health & Social Care in collaboration with the Delivery Group and stakeholders.
  • The role is responsible for providing operational leadership and support to a Senior OT who will be recruited to assist with the implementation of the framework and provide direct support to trusted assessors.
  • The Lead OT will need to collaborate with accredited or in house trusted assessor training providers and universities (i.e. Roehampton, Kingston and LSBU) to promote and enable trusted assessor training that meets the needs of the SWL OT Health and Social Care workforce.
  • The post holder will provide guidance, support and mentor trusted assessors to maintain and develop their skills through regular forums and direct support.
  • The postholder will also develop a resource pack for Trusted Assessors which will include standard operating procedures for equipment.

Working hours: Part time and flexible working will be considered.
